I did an almost non-existent run this morning, but it happened, so it counts. After a very lazy morning, I finally got out of the house to start my run at around noon. I knew it wasn’t going to be long when I started, but I knew that if I didn’t go then, I wouldn’t go at all.
It was (relatively) warm when I headed out, only -1°C. What I forgot is that means that everything is just on the verge of slush. I ran onto the park path and it was not the nice easy run I did last time, the snow was uneven and unsteady under my feet. I got to my first corner, and I’d just barely hit 1km, and that was when I realized that I was not going as far as I’d hoped. And I’d only hoped for 3km.
I decided to reduce my chances of cutting it even shorter by going south to St. Claire right away, and running along it instead of the smaller roads. The nice thing was that most of the sidewalks were shovelled, and so I had a nice even footing. Bad part was that I was running on sidewalks, and I really don’t enjoy that much.
So I finished off with 2.68km in 16:59, which is a 6:21 pace. It’s a little slower than I went last time, but indicates that I can increase my buddy’s pace by another 5s/km and still be nicely ahead of her (she doesn’t have a name yet, but I’m sure that’s just a matter of time – maybe Mina?)
